Homemade Fiber Blend

You’ll find many different fiber blends on the market.  Some made exclusively from natural ingredients and others with not-so-natural additives.  All are quite overpriced.  We began making our own fiber blend years ago when I realized how inexpensive psyllium and flax are.  Initially we just used ground flax mixed in water as our fiber supplement but over time I added more and more ingredients- some because of their fiber content and others just because I knew they were good for us and I couldn’t figure where else to fit more of them into our diet (things like spirulina and turmeric).  This fiber blend is extremely inexpensive to make.  I make it in quantity and then store a jar for active use as well as the extra in our refrigerator (or freezer).

Have you ever tried adding this to bread or cracker recipes? If so, which would you recommend? Thanks!

Where can I purchase Spirulina and kelp granules? Will those be at my local health food store (or at Whole foods)? And, in what department (bulk goods)?

    Thanks!

No- I wouldn’t recommend adding this to a food recipe. My recipes naturally have lots of fiber in them, and I’m afraid this blend would detract from the overall product. Also, it’s important that fiber be well-hydrated when you take it.

You can probably find them at your local grocery store. Spirulina could be in bulk or in the supplement section. Kelp would be in bulk. You can also order them online.

Do you use this cleanse everyday or just for a few months? How much do you use per serving? when do you take it? Morning? Afternoon? I have been on the hallelujah diet for about 2 years. I just started the Candida diet and your Companion Guide will be my nutritional bible for the next three weeks! Thanks for your help!

We use it pretty much on a daily basis. We generally use 2 Tbsp. (in 16 oz. of water). My husband takes it in the morning and I take it mid-afternoon. I hope you have great success using the candida plan!
